The school operates Maruti Vans for the kids to commute
between school and home. Having vans instead of buses and rickshaws has
a lot of advantages.
The van is much more stable, safe and comfortable than a rickshaw to begin with. Vans, being easier to manoeuvre than buses, the children can be picked up from their building or society gate. They do not all have to gather at some common point on the road. Vans carry very little children as compared to buses. So as soon as the 10 odd kids are picked up, the van comes straight to school. So the children don’t waste a lot of time picking up 30 odd children all over the city. As the number of children are less, the vans are very punctual and efficient. The children also enjoy their ride to and fro. The school has 125 routes around Pune. Even children who live at a considerable distance from the school do not spend a lot of time on the road as after picking up the children in that area, the van comes right back to school on the main roads as it has no more children to pick up. So the commute does not exhaust the children at all. And as these vans carry children, who are going to shape our nation’s future and bring glory to our country, we call them “Carriers of National Wealth”
